The Dinka people are a Nilotic ethnic group native to South Sudan.
The Dinka mostly live along the Nile, from Jonglei to Renk, in the region of Bahr el Ghazal, Upper Nile and the Abyei Area of the Ngok Dinka in South Sudan.
They number around 4.5 million people, constituting about 12 percent of the population of the entire country.
The Dinka constitute the largest ethnic group in South Sudan.
The Dinka set up big cattle camps near the Nile to make sure their animals are close to grazing pastures.
The cattle play a central role in Dinka culture and survival.
