Turkana People. Always on the move.

Turkana live in semi-arid region, in North-Western Kenya.
Armed with Kalashnikov and G3 assault rifles bring their cattle to the river.
While the men take livestock to water or graze, families set up  temporary  homes.
A little girl searching for water. There are few, if any, developed wells for community and livestock drinking water.
Livestock is an important aspect of Turkana life.
Goats, camels, donkeys and zebu are the primary herd stock utilized by the Turkana people.
Turkana women wear necklaces they make themselves. They are an indication of social status.
Turkana jewellery is made of glass, seeds, shells, iron or tin.
Turkana girls. They have elaborate clothing and adornment styles.
Ostrich feather caps are worn as the ceremonial headdress.
Elder Turkana. They call themselves Ngiturkan and their land Eturkan.
Turkana homesteads are temporary and mainly made of thorny boughs.
